40 of them carry Google reviews, 8,963 between them, averaging 4.7 out of 5. Worth reading before you pick on price alone, because the cheapest quote is a false economy if the work needs doing twice.
Of the 40 where we hold opening hours, 20 open on a Saturday. Weekend slots go first, so booking a week ahead usually gets you a better choice than ringing round on the day.
Why book an MOT and service together in Preston
These are two different jobs that happen to suit one visit. The MOT is a legal annual test of roadworthiness on the day, with a fee capped by the DVSA at £54.85. A service is preventative maintenance that changes oil, filters and worn parts, and it is not a legal requirement at all.
Booking them together in Preston usually costs less than booking them separately, because the garage has your car on the ramp either way. Many discount the MOT substantially when it is bundled with a full service, and some advertise it free. It also means one trip and one day without the car rather than two. Worth knowing before you compare deals: the MOT fee is capped at £54.85 whichever way you book, so any bundle discount has to come off the service, which our guide on whether an MOT and service is cheaper together explains in full.
What to expect on the day in Preston
Most garages run the service first and the MOT after, so anything obvious found during the service can be put right before the test rather than becoming a failure. Allow most of a day for both. If the car does fail on something the service did not cover, the garage will quote separately, and you are free to take it elsewhere for the repair provided the current MOT has not expired and the car is safe to drive.
If you are unsure which of the two your car is actually due, our guide on the difference between an MOT and a service sets it out, and you can check any car's MOT expiry date free on our MOT check page. For local prices see MOT costs in Preston.

Frequently asked questions
How much does an MOT and service cost in Preston?
The MOT is capped at £54.85 and the service depends on your car, commonly £170 to £300 for a full service. Booked together most garages discount the MOT, so the combined price is usually below the two separately.
Do I actually save money booking both together?
Usually yes. The garage has the car on the ramp once, so most discount the MOT when it is bundled with a full service, and some include it at no extra cost.
How long does an MOT and service take?
Allow most of a day. An MOT alone is commonly 45 to 60 minutes as a trade norm, and a full service takes considerably longer, so garages usually ask to keep the car.
Which is done first, the MOT or the service?
Most garages service the car first, so anything obvious can be corrected before the test rather than becoming a recorded failure.
What happens if the car fails the MOT?
The garage quotes for the repair separately. You can have the work done there or take the car elsewhere, as long as the current MOT has not expired and the car is not dangerous to drive.
Do I need to book in advance in Preston?
For both jobs in one visit, yes. Send a booking request and the garage confirms a date, time and price directly with you. No payment is taken online.

Each listing shows the garage's real Google rating and review count, so you can compare on feedback as well as price before you book.
