What is included in a full service?

Servicing

A full service is preventative maintenance designed to keep your car reliable and safe between MOTs. Exact contents vary by garage and vehicle, but a typical full service includes the following.

Usually included

  • Engine oil and oil filter change
  • Air filter check or replacement
  • Inspection of brakes, tyres, steering and suspension
  • Checks of lights, wipers and washers
  • Top-up of key fluids (coolant, brake fluid, screen wash)
  • A written report of anything that needs attention

Interim vs full

An interim service is a lighter check, often every six months or 6,000 miles, focused on oil and safety basics. A full service is more thorough and is usually recommended once a year or every 12,000 miles. Always follow your manufacturer’s schedule where possible.
