ClickMechanic vs YourCarGarage: how do they compare?

A fair comparison, accurate as of July 2026. Details can change, so check the provider for the latest.

ClickMechanic and YourCarGarage both help UK drivers get their car sorted, but they work in quite different ways. We should be upfront: we are YourCarGarage, so this is our view. We have tried to keep it fair and accurate, and we would genuinely encourage you to check ClickMechanic’s own site too.

ClickMechanic is built around an instant fixed-price quote, with a vetted mobile mechanic coming to you or the car being collected, and payment taken through the platform once the work is done. YourCarGarage is a comparison and booking service: you look at local garages, send a booking request, and deal with the garage directly. The models are different enough that the right choice really depends on what you want.

Two different models

ClickMechanic leads with convenience and certainty on price. You enter your registration and postcode, pick the work, and get a fixed price in seconds. A vetted mobile mechanic then comes to your home or workplace, or for bigger jobs the car is collected and returned. You pay through the ClickMechanic app after the work is finished, and the service comes with a warranty. For a lot of people that is genuinely handy, especially if you cannot easily get to a garage.

YourCarGarage works the other way round. Instead of a single fixed quote, you compare local garages, then send a booking request to the one you like. There is no payment online: you deal with the garage directly and pay them directly. The idea is that you choose your garage and build a relationship with them, rather than the platform sitting in the middle of every job.

Where they differ

The clearest difference is who holds the customer relationship and who takes the money. With ClickMechanic, payment runs through the platform and the price is set by their quoting system. With YourCarGarage, the garage keeps the customer and takes payment directly, and we never take a cut of the job. We charge garages a flat £10 a month plus £10 per accepted lead (fixed for life for Founding Members), rather than a percentage.

The other big difference is where the work happens. ClickMechanic’s strength is that the mechanic comes to you or collects the car. YourCarGarage sends you to a garage of your choice, which some drivers prefer for larger repairs, ongoing servicing, or simply having a local they trust and can pop back to. Both cover the UK broadly, and both surface reviews so you can judge quality.

Which should you use?

If your priority is convenience and knowing the price up front, and you like the idea of a mechanic coming to you, ClickMechanic is a strong fit. If you would rather choose your own local garage, pay them directly, and build a longer relationship, YourCarGarage is built for that. It can also be worth doing both: get a ClickMechanic quote as a price benchmark, then compare local garages here. Either way, it helps to know what to look for, so have a read of how to choose a good local garage.

The verdict

Neither is better, they suit different needs. ClickMechanic suits people who want convenience and a fixed price, with a mechanic who comes to them and payment handled in the app. YourCarGarage suits people who want to choose and build a relationship with a local garage, pay them directly, and keep the platform out of the middle.
